The whole town opened up to embrace the past of this picturesque village with its historic buildings. Together with other traditional craftspeople from leather crafters, farriers, bakers, shingle makers, chair makers & blacksmiths; it was a fantastic weekend for all.
Unique Tasmanian timber serving platters made from salvaged timber that would otherwise have been buried, burnt or forgotten. No two come out the same, it all depends on the timber I find.
I give them some love, a bit of a sand & oil, attach some 4mm thick leather as handles and you’ve got a unique board.
These have the essence of ‘
wabi sabi’…perfection in imperfection. I like all of my boards to keep some of their rustic feel to remind the handler that they are a natural product from a living source. This might be in the form of keeping a bark edge or not finally sanding & finishing an edge.
They’re earthy …. primal …. rustic …. solid …. unique.
